Small Bowel Cancer

Small Bowel Cancer

More than 20 clinical trials are currently accepting participants diagnosed with Small Bowel Cancer.

Small bowel cancer, a rare type of cancer, starts in the small bowel which is key to digestion and nutrient absorption. The small bowel, 4-6 metres long, comprises the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. Most cases occur in the duodenum. Risk factors include older age, specific genetic conditions like familial adenomatous polyposis and Lynch syndrome, Crohn's disease, coeliac disease, and dietary habits. Smoking and alcohol may also increase the risk, but more research is needed.
